I have to admit that I actually paid over $20.00 for yeast... at the height of the panic buying in the spring. When the shelves were bare of not only toilet paper, but flour and yeast, I ordered it on Amazon. Fast forward a few months later and I just purchased the same item for $7.50.
Why buy it at Amazon? Well, I used to buy yeast at Costco until it was no longer available at our local store. I found an old blog post, where it was priced at $4.99 for 2 lbs., such a great deal. It is available at Costco.com for $4.99 with an additional $3.00 delivery fee but I didn't think to look there in April because my Costco Club Membership expired at the end of February. I finally renewed it in early June when the long lines to the stores eased up. During the early months of our state's shutdown it was easier to shop at Target, ShopRite, and Whole Foods.
My Favorite Recipes
Here are 4 recipes that I bake the most that use yeast- Cinnamon Swirl Bread: I double the recipe and divide it into 3 loaves of bread. Why 3? I only have 3 bread pans. 2 are 8" x 4" and 1 is 9" x 5".
- Pizza Crust: Easy to make. I use my 16" Aldi Find pizza pan to make a cheese pizza. The left over dough is used for a small pizza topped with spinach. I bake it in an Aldi Find crisper pan. The pizza is approximately 8" x 11" when baked!
- French Bread: Very easy and quick!
- Whole Wheat Bread: It makes 2 loaves.
